Attraction #2: Concannon Vineyard
Address: 4590 Tesla Road, Livermore, California 94550, United States
Concannon Vineyard, one of California’s oldest and most renowned wineries, is situated in the Livermore Valley. James Concannon, an Irish immigrant who founded the winery, was the first to plant Petite Sirah in California and to bottle it as a varietal wine. The winery has a long history of innovation. Concannon still makes outstanding wines today in a variety of varietals, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel. Whether you prefer crisp whites or robust reds, Concannon Vineyard is sure to have a wine that appeals to your palate. So be sure to stop by this historic winery the next time you’re in the Livermore Valley.
History:
James Concannon, a native of Inishmaan, County Galway, and an immigrant from Ireland, founded Concannon in 1883. James brought some cuttings back from Chateau Margaux. In a significant portion of his Livermore vineyard, James used only the imported vines. Phylloxera attacks hit the majority of California’s vintners in the 1960s. The vines that were descended from the 1893 cuttings appeared to be in good health, but closer examination revealed that the virus appeared to have targeted the vines that were at least partially descended from other grapes.
Dr. Harold Olmo at UC Davis was contacted by Jim Concannon, who was then in charge of Concannon’s research and development, about setting up a program to clone some of the vines at Concannon’s Livermore Vineyard. Jim Concannon, Professor Curt Alley, and Dr. Olmo set up a test bed where they could carefully observe samples of the grapes that came from these wines. Then, each of the three collaborators took a cutting from a single vine. The vine specimens were heated in order to eradicate any signs of viral disease before being propagated at the UC Davis Oakville Campus under close supervision. Under their code names, UC Davis formally registered the wines with the wine industry.
According to estimates, 80% of the cabernet sauvignon produced in the state of California today comes from Concannon Cabernet Clones 7, 8, and 11, which were developed as a result of this research program. UC Davis claims that the company’s success in creating and marketing sacramental or altar wine for the Roman Catholic Church enabled it to survive the country’s Prohibition. For the purpose of enhancing Mexico’s commercial viticulture, grape cuttings from this vineyard were introduced there. The vineyard has thus been recognized as a California Historical Landmark.

Question #3: What are the reasons for the AC repair in Livermore, California?
There are a few reasons why your AC might need some repair in Livermore, California. Here are the top five:
- The first reason is the most obvious one: it’s hot outside. When temperatures start to creep up, your AC has to work harder to keep your home cool and comfortable. This can put a strain on the system, and over time, that strain can lead to damage or breakage.
- Secondly, your AC might be leaking water. This is usually a sign that the unit isn’t draining properly, which can cause all sorts of problems. If left unchecked, a leaky AC can cause water damage to your home or even lead to mold growth.
- Thirdly, strange noises coming from your AC are never a good sign. It could be something as simple as loose parts rattling around, or it could be indicative of a more serious problem. If you hear strange noises, it’s best to have a professional take a look.
- Fourth, if your AC isn’t blowing air as strongly as it used to, that’s another sign that something might be wrong. This could be due to a clogged filter or something more serious like an issue with the compressor.
- Finally, if your energy bills have been soaring lately, that could be an indication that your AC is working overtime – and not necessarily efficiently. An inefficient AC unit can end up costing you a lot of money in the long run, so it’s definitely worth getting it checked out.
If you’ve noticed any of these problems with your AC, don’t hesitate to call a professional for help. AC repair is never something you want to put off, as it can only lead to more problems down the road.
